Captain George gives Alexander and the others until sunset to surrender, or there will be sword-fights until dawn! As the Pirates disappear back onto their ship, the Islanders discuss what they are going to do. An old woman, who has been quietly watching the action, is introduced as Ol' Manbo. She's nasty to them, and teases them that they've got more chance of getting the God of the Sun to help than they have of defeating the Pirates. However, this jibe gives Laura the idea to try exactly that, and THE SUMMONING OF FAFA ends with a flash of lightning and a crash of thunder. Fafa has managed to persuade his father to let him go down to the Island, and he arrives in style.
